Flowers to plant for native bees

Native bees will forage on both native and exotic plants and have a foraging range of greater than 500m.

Tetragonula Carbonaria have a preference for white, yellow and purple flowers, but will visit most coloured flowers.

These bees can often be seen foraging on herbs and vegetables that have been left to flower (Onions, Brassicas, Basil and Thyme are favourites.) Small shrubs such as Grevillias, Callistemons, Grass trees, Gardenias and Camelias make good foraging plants for the bees.

Larger trees such as most Eucalypts, Lemon myrtles, Tuckeroos, Brushbox and others also supply large amounts of nectar and pollen for the bees.
